After graduating from Delft University of Technology, I undertook specialist training at Utrecht University Medical Centre and gained extensive experience in curative medicine . At Vintura I like to focus upon complex healthcare challenges which combine medical issues with business aspects. In recent years I have developed a keen professional interest in oncology, due to both its clinical complexity and its relevance in terms of patient impact and social implications. I am also intensively involved in issues around centre-building and collaboration.
In my work, I attach great importance to an analytical approach: a critical view, thorough analyses and not being satisfied with mere adequacy. In a project, occasional frictions are fine by me if they are what it takes to improve the end result of the exercise. But I always keep in mind the need to maintain good personal relationships.
I like to spend my free time in De Treek, a beautiful nature reserve just around the corner from where we live. Cycling, running or walking, with a good conversation along the way. My wife and I come from different continents, which is perhaps why we enjoy travelling so much. We regularly visit family in the US or go to Africa, where we have our roots. Back in the Netherlands I do voluntary work at a prison, where I see a side of life very different from that I encounter professionally.
