Strategic Issue
The board of a Dutch hospital was struggling with a loss-making satellite site. Was it making the best use of the available capacity? Vintura was commissioned to compile an improvement plan that would make the facility pay and optimize its utilization.
Thorough Analysis
We first conducted a thorough financial and business analysis. Before formulating the most effective turnaround strategy, we looked at a number of options. Would departments have to close? Or could efficiency be improved by treating more patients at the site? We challenged the client to join us in exploring some less obvious solutions.
Better Utilization
Our key finding was that the hospital could better utilize the inpatient facilities at its satellite location. Together with all clinical departments, we then decided what types of care could be relocated from the main hospital. With patient safety as a decisive factor. The reorganization has saved more than €500,000 a year. The satellite facility can treat more patients at no extra cost, allowing departments at the main site to close.
